The VTCT Level 2 Extended Certificate in Hair and Beauty Skills (VRQ) is a vocational qualification that will prepare you to become a hairdressing or beauty therapy apprentice in the hair and beauty sector.
What you’ll study:
· A mandatory unit where you design a themed look for a client, including hair, make-up and nails. You will create a mood board to show your ideas and learn why planning and presenting your vision is important.
· A range of optional units to build your skills, such as face painting, nail art, skincare, make-up, manicure/pedicure, blow-drying, colouring, cutting, plaiting and twisting hair, and more.
Extra opportunities:
· Learn about the wider hair and beauty industry, including health and safety, customer service, and product knowledge.
· Develop skills in promoting yourself, preparing for interviews, and even designing retail displays.
· Gain confidence in communicating with clients and working as part of a professional team.
By the end of the course, you will have a strong foundation of practical skills and industry knowledge. This will help you progress into an apprenticeship or further training in hairdressing or beauty therapy, giving you a clear pathway into a career in the sector.
This qualification has been reviewed by The British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) who have confirmed that this qualification is fit for purpose as a pre-apprenticeship qualification to prepare learners to undertake the role of hairdressing or beauty therapy apprentice.
