Travel and Tourism

course information

The Level 1/2 Tourism course is divided into three sections. Two units are assessed by coursework and one unit is assessed by examination. Pupils complete the external examination at the end of year 11 which accounts for 25% of the course. The coursework units will be completed during years 10 and 11.

The content of the course is divided into 3 themes:

 

Unit 1

Customer Experience: In this unit you will look at how organizations deal with their customers.  You will become aware of the importance of excellent customer service.

Unit 2

The Business of Tourism: The purpose of this unit is to understand the objectives of tourism organizations and to understand the business environment within which tourism organizations operate.

Unit 3

Developing Tourist Destinations in the United Kingdom: Within this unit you will look at the appeal of different destinations for different types of visitors.
